What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a marketing strategy which people use online to earn money.

People make money online by selling products or services.

These products and services can be

1. your own:

For example, you may created an e-book or a video training series or a website offering your services of teaching something, like a musical instrument or sport or craft.

2. someone elses:

When you  promote someone else’s products or services, then this is calledaffiliate marketing and you become an affiliate. You earn a commision when someone purchases the product you are promoting. Commisions will vary depending on the product or service you are promoting.

How Do You Get Started?

1. Find Some Products To Promote:

Basically you find something that interests you and join up. All you do is search for your interest.

There are a huge number of businesses or marketplaces online wanting their products or services to be promoted by affiliates.

Some examples are:

~ Amazon has a huge range of products to promote.

~ Sheet Music Plus has a huge range of sheet music for many instruments.

~ Clickbank has a huge range of digital  products on many topics and the commission rate is high on many products.

2. Promote The Product:

The business will give you an affiliate link. This is the URL given to the product or service and directs people to these products or services. This can be in the form of text, banners.

Then you market this product or service. Your aim is to get that link out to as many places as possible so people can see it and click on it if interested. Which means Sales and Money!!

Where Do You Market?

You can market using:

1. Social Networking Sites such as:

~ Facebook

~ Twitter

~ Instagram

~ Pinterest

~ Flickr

~ YouTube

~ Pinterest

~ google+

~ LinkedIn

2. Content Marketing such as:

~ write articles and submit to article banks such as ezine articles or hub pages

~ write blogs for your website or blogging platform. Please note that you can get free blogging platforms and paid ones.

~ video

~ host webinars

3. Paid Advertising:

There are a number of places such as facebook, youtube where you can write an advertisement and pay to have it placed.

Please note, there are more ways you can market your offer. But the ones given here make a great start. I would recommend writing blogs or articles and advertising those on the Social Networking Sites to begin with.

Then you can try paid advertising.

How Do You Market?
There are two ways:
1. Put your affiliate link in the above mentioned places and earn a commission when someone buys.
Doing it this way you have no contact with the buyer.  The person whose offer it is does.

2. Use a Sales Funnel including an Autoresponder
This way you get email addresses from everyone interested in the offer you are promoting, whether they buy or don’t.If they buy you get a commission.

If they don’t buy they become leads and get put on your emailing list. You can then keep in contact with them sending relevant information and an opportunity to buy. Some will buy after seeing the offer several times.
